DISTRICT INITIATIVES AT CACHE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Cache Public Schools has a long standing history of applying for, and receiving, grants from multiple sources. We take pirde in our ability to provide students and teachers with state of the art technology and 21st century oppertunities. We know having these resources leads to improved outcomes for students and increases teacher retention at Cache.

  • Awarded in 2021 and ending in 2026, Cache Calculated Connesctions was developed to increase academic achievement in mathematics in preparation for health sciences careers. Student test and achievement data indicated a need for better math scores and improved math education to help students learn and teachers teach in an atmosphere more conducive to project-based learning and collaboration. The goal of the project is to improve math outcomes in grades 4 and 9 annually. The project will address teaching strategies, communication among the math faculty through project-based learning, and student social-emotional growth to introduce more students to careers in health sciences by emphasizing the “M” in “STEAM.”

  • Awarded in 2022 and ending in 2027 Cache Public Schools proposed the R&R Project for a district Reset and Refocus mission after the pandemic to address literacy learning loss and teacher SEL needs. Current student assessment data indicates a loss of learning during the pandemic resulting from high absenteeism and remote learning. Teacher surveys indicated teachers were stressed, overwhelmed, and not in a good place to address the learning loss. This project will combat both through continuous strategic planning and capacity building in the instructional staff. By increasing teacher expertise through professional learning, we believe we can better equip our teachers to meet student needs while simultaneously increasing job satisfaction for teachers.

  • The Cache Fitness Forward Project (2023-2028) focuses on students in grades PK-12 through an intentional program to improve their mental, physical, and behavioral health. The goals of the project are 1) students in grades K-6 will improve mental, physical, and behavioral health, and 2) students in grades 7-12 will improve mental, physical, and behavioral health. Strategies include increasing the quality of physical education in the lower grades; outfitting selected classrooms with kinesthetic chairs and tables; increasing PE options for the upper grades; and establishing exergaming labs at both the middle and high schools. All research on the brain-fitness connection confirms that increased movement and fitness contribute to improved behavior, contentive skills, concentration, and academic achievement; and although the project will measure fitness and behavioral outcomes, Cache Public Schools fully expects that academic achievement will increase as well.

  • Cache Public School’s Full STEAM Ahead Project (2024-2029) will better address the needs and competencies of military connected and civilian students in the rapidly changing world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) to increase experiences, foundational knowledge, cutting-edge technology, work based learning, and industry based certifications.  Both teachers and students express a desire to further develop their skills in these crucial areas of this modern day, outpacing, and ever changing reality.

  • UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to federal funding changes effective March 2025, this grant was recinded and funds were returned to the U.S. Treasury by the Department of Commerce. Cache Public School proposes Project C.A.C.H.E. (Computer-Access Community Help & Education) to bring digital equity to our community by increasing the digital literacy and resolving internet access needs of our rural, fringe community. Technology is a rapidly changing landscape in which we intend to increase workforce development education access to tools that will take learners beyond the sought after 21st century skills, and provide for the expansion of community access to cutting edge technology. Teachers and families alike express a desire to ensure our school provides the most up to date educational opportunities, develops staff that is well versed in technology, and provides pathways for all students to be successful beyond graduation.

  • Students in second through fourth grade may have the opportunity to participate in High-Dosage Literacy tutoring after school.  These students work in small groups with a Science of Reading trained teacher, twice a week, focusing on phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.  Hands-on literacy lessons and book studies are tailored to meet individual group needs by grade level and learning level.

  • Open to Juniors and Seniors who meet ACT and/or GPA requirements. Cache High Schools partners with Western State College, Cameron Univiersity and others, to bring a variety of concurrent options to our students. Thorugh these programs, students earn college credit while completing high school graduation requirements.

    Options include

    • On Campus college classess offered by Cameron Professors
    • Off Campus college classes offered at Cameron
    • ITV distance courses
    • Fully online courses
  • During their sophomore year, students will visit the GPTC campus to explore the full range of programs available to high school participants. Applications and interviews take place in the spring, with admission decisions communicated shortly afterward. Cache High School provides transportation to and from GPTC throughout the program. Due to limited space, students are encouraged to submit applications and complete interviews promptly once the window opens. School counselors remain actively involved during this process to offer guidance and support.
